To be successful working from home, it’s imperative to approach each day as if you were going into the office: set the alarm, get up, get dressed, and get going. Because you don’t have a commute, your workday can begin earlier, allowing you more time to get your daily plan organized. And be sure you have plenty of coffee at home, as you won’t be getting any from the office! Lastly, be patient and remind yourself that it might take a few days to find your groove when working from home, but don’t worry- you’ll find it! Below are some tips and tricks to help you succeed while working from home.

  1. Set office hours for yourself and goals to reach each day.
  2. Very important to limit distractions and to let others who are home know that you are working and to limit interruptions.
  3. Have your workspace set up in a quiet area away from the central part of the activity going on, possibly behind closed doors.
  4. Identify your peak productivity hours and focus on working extra hard during those times.
  5. Make sure you have a secure internet and phone connection.
  6. If you’re in the phone business and don’t have a separate work phone that you can use at home- first, make sure you have an unlimited plan; second, find headphones you can plug into or Bluetooth headphones to use. You will get tired of holding your cell phone up to your head.
  7. Use technology to stay connected- Set up a Skype account if you don’t already have one, as meetings can be taken place online.
  8. Ensure high communication with your team/colleagues. Schedule more meetings and stay on top of everyone\'s output.
  9. Schedule any necessary breaks throughout the day and know when to shut it down in the evenings.
  10. If your younger kids are home: Get a neighborhood teenager who is out of school to come to watch your kids, so they are no bored, and you can focus on work.
